Knockhill Race Report – 27/28 May 2023

Lewis Paterson – Scottish Superbikes

Lewis qualified in 2nd position for the 2 scheduled Scottish Superbike races, with his grid positions for the KMSC races to be decided by finishing positions in the previous races.

In the Scottish Superbike races Lewis had close battles but ultimately triumphed to take 2 further wins in the Scottish Superbike class. In the KMSC Superbike races Lewis started from pole position and one the first race. He again started from pole position in the 2nd race but was ultimately denied a chance at victory by a slower rider and was forced to settle for 2nd position.

Lewis brought his personal best lap time at Knockhill down to a 49.7s.

Owen Paterson – Scottish Lightweights

Owen qualified in pole position for the 2 scheduled Scottish Lightweight races setting a lap time of 52.819s, which was under the existing lap record. Owen’s grid positions for the KMSC races to be decided by finishing positions in the previous races.

On Saturday Owen crashed out of the first Lightweight race, despite setting the fastest. In the 2nd race Owen was forced to start from the back of the grid and made his way up to 6th by the finish.

On Sunday Owen finished 2nd in the second KMSC race of the weekend, before going on to take victory in the final Scottish Championship race of the weekend with a last corner passing manouvre.

Owen was awarded the Willie Brown Spirit of the Meeting award by the KMSC at the trophy presentation, in recognition of his comeback from a difficult 2022 season.

Zoe Paterson – Scottish Junior Twins

Zoe qualified in 10th place for the 2 scheduled Scottish Junior Twins races, with her grid positions for the KMSC races to be decided by finishing positions in the previous races.

On Saturday Zoe pulled out of the first race of the weekend with a technical issue with the quick shifter. The team disconnected this for the rest of the weekend. In the second race on Saturday Zoe started from the back of the grid and made her way up to 11th place.

On Sunday Zoe finished 11th twice, setting her personal best lap of the season so far with a 61.5s lap.
